TECHNICAL WRITER
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interpret manufacturing/assembly drawings and process documents to create accurate technician-level work instructions that fully conform to design requirements
Create, revise, and maintain graphics-heavy, user-friendly instruction and process documents to produce and test flight hardware
Optimize order of operations and assembly sequence to minimize labor and maximize repeat-ability
Incorporate redlines from engineers into existing technical specifications, test procedures, and technician-level work instructions
Interact with engineering, subject matter experts, and shop personnel to ensure that work instructions are accurate, comprehensible, and efficient
Coordinate production requirements and engineering schedules to ensure drawings, parts, instructions, and tooling are delivered on time to the manufacturing floor
Produce solutions for special projects – technical training, database coding, and workflow development
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in an engineering, math, science, writing, English, journalism, or communications field
Minimum of 1 year of hands-on fabrication, assembly, and/or testing experience via internships, labs, outside the classroom extracurricular activities or professional industry experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience with NX or other solid modeling software
Experience with metallic or composite manufacturing techniques, processes, equipment, and other processes such as machining, welding, structural assembly,inspection, etc.
Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Experience with Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA)
Experience in a team oriented environment
Must be able to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers
Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Self-motivated, well organized with keen attention to detail
Must have an ongoing drive for continuous improvement in all aspects of work
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work while being on your feet for up to 4+ hours a day
Ability to work directly with the hardware on the floor and being comfortable stooping, bending, and standing
Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary
